Stress
Modern Americans are experiencing a virtual epidemic of stress. If you are like most people you are living at a fast pace, working long hours, juggling multiple responsibilities, facing financial challenges, and dealing with health or other issues.
Living the life you want involves enjoying your life. To enjoy your life, you need to release the burden of unhealthy stresses. Stress drains physical and mental energy, and interferes with enjoyment of family, friends and activities, and is often a major component of insomnia, anxiety, depression, low energy, fatigue, experiences of overwhelm, procrastination, lack of motivation, distractibility and difficulty making decisions. Stress reduction leads to greater calm, energy, focus and clarity. In addition, stress significantly effects health, which is why health care practitioners frequently encourage patients to reduce stress. Some of the most common problems seen in primary care offices are strongly influenced by stress. Studies and clinical experience have shown stress reduction to be related to improvement in many health conditions, such as hypertension, asthma, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, back pain, fibromyalgia, and migraine headaches.
Relaxation
Relaxation involves several distinct elements, such as re-programming/re-conditioning of your nervous system, re-framing events, increasing coping skills, developing the ability to be calm and mindful in the face of unexpected and/or unpleasant events, clarifying core personal values and goals, and being connected to inner wisdom.
At CIBM, you learn relaxation through hypnotherapy (imagery and suggestion), physical relaxation training, psychotherapy (if needed in order to address any deeper issues that create stress), and mindfulness.
Groups: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
